Diplomatic Ties 444: Thom Sweeney

By Daniel Blockert|October 7, 2018|Diplomatic Ties - The Series|0 comments

I bought this pair of honey-coloured, pleated, wide-wale, loose cut corduroy pants in the early 90s. They were made by Corneliani and they were one of the first pair of more expensive pants that I ever bought. I wore them regularly at the time but when the noughties arrived with the flat front, slim cut dogma they wound up in storage somwehere. I didn’t want to throw them away since I still liked the cut a lot.

Thankfully looser cut pants, pleats and wide wale corduroy is back again, have been for a few years actually. I had forgotten these pants but during a recent move I found them in a box and brought them back into circulation again. They look short in the first picture but that is just because I’m leaning towards the fence. There is fabric enough to make a decent fold-up, I will probably take them to the tailor to do that.

Jacket from Luciano Barbera, Paul Smith cardigan, shirt from Drake’s, Thom Sweeney (by Drake’s) tie, Rose & Born ps, Corneliani pants, shoes from Tricker’s and a Frank Leder scarf. Scent: Frédéric Malle Noir Epices. Click on the headline for more pics.
