Diplomatic Ties 440: Vanda Fine Clothing

By Daniel Blockert|August 1, 2018|Diplomatic Ties - The Series|0 comments

Unbearably hot in Geneva right now, like in most parts of Europe. Even in the evenings it’s really too warm for a jacket. Tried with summer fabrics (linen, matka, breezy cotton, unlined suede) but it helps only so much. Montedoro jacket, shirt from Drake’s, Vanda tie, Christian Kimber ps, pants from Berg & Berg, chukkas from Paraboot and Garrett Leight shades. The Brown Shirt

By Daniel Blockert|July 19, 2018|General Menswear|0 comments

It’s not only the political connotations that makes a brown shirt a tricky thing to pull off. But when done right it can be a very elegant alternative to the ordinary blues and whites. Suit from Sartoria Scuderi, RLPL shirt, tie from Shibumi, Poszetka ps, John Lobb shoes, Paul Smith cufflinks and Dunhill shades. Scent is Slumberhouse Baque. Click on the headline for more pics.

4th of July

By Daniel Blockert|July 4, 2018|General Menswear|0 comments

US embassies and missions abroad rarely actually hold receptions on the 4th of July, since they want to give their staff the chance to travel home over the holiday. Here in Geneva the reception was held last week. But I can of course post what I wore to the event on the correct day! Jacket from Morris, Inglese shirt, tie from Shibumi, ps from Vanda, Berg & Berg pants, shoes from Mano, Panama from Olney and Moscot shades. Click on the headline for more pics.

Wearing Things That Are Much Cooler Than You.

Found these vintage Serengeti Drivers sunglasses on ebay and had to buy them. Not often you find them in new condition (this was from deadstock, never used). The model Serengeti DR 6206 Wickets was made sometimes in the 80s, don’t know the exact year. The challenge is of course to be cool enough to actually pull off wearing them. Not sure that I’m there yet… Orlebar Brown Terry towelling polo, Loro Piana pants, shoes from Twins and Serengeti shades.

The Tricky Season

The weather in Geneva is tricky right now. Looks warm, but then shocks you by still being pretty nippy. Jacket from Isaia, Tom Ford shirt, Borrelli tie, ps from Shibumi, pants and scarf from Berg & Berg and shoes from Tricker’s. Click on the headline for more pics.

Navy

A fit dominated by the most classic of all menswear colours: navy blue. Suit from Loro Piana, Inglese shirt, tie from Marinella, Boivin ps and shoes from John Lobb. Click on the headline for more pics.

The Longest Bench

By Daniel Blockert|March 17, 2018|General Menswear|0 comments

One of the world’s most useless sights is in Geneva. The (supposedly) longest bench in the world. Don’t know if it really is and, more importantly, don’t care. But it was a nice day, one of the last winter days since warmer weather has already arrived. Jacket, shirt and tie from Drake’s, ps from Poszetka, Berg & Berg pants, Red Wing boots, Jonathan Richard paperboy cap and a scarf from Ralph Lauren Denim Supply. Click on the headline for more pics.
